If you have young kids than you know that this is a line from the animated movie “Cars.” Doc is teaching the cool, know-it-all, race car Lightning McQueen how to drive on dirt.

“If you wanna go left you must go right.” He is teaching him that sometimes the best approach is the counter-intuitive approach.

In this spirit, we believe you have to “begin with the end in mind.” This is from Steven Covey’s famous saying from his book, 7 Habits of Highly Successful People.

Just like driving on dirt, it doesn’t make sense to focus on the big vision BEFORE figuring out what to do right now.

But that’s exactly what we tell our students.

Join Steve Thompson, Dean of Students at Practice Freedom U, and I as we share some little known ways to incorporate this mindset.
